This will be the third in the series of shows shading in the hidden predator at the center of the Missing 411 cases. We left off with the Lenape Mask spirit Misinkhalikan. Noting the prefix Misin in the name, as in Missing 411. Is it an unrelated parallel? This spirit is the medicine spirit who maintains the balance of nature. Its mentioned in this context because if there is an absence of reverence in our natural web of life, hunters, hikers and campers could then become unprotected and maybe targets. Michelle Debrieves quotes author Douchan Gersi who wrote Faces in the Smoke an Eyewitness Experience of Voodoo, Shamanism, Psychic Healing, and Other Amazing Human Powers in Hidden Predator thesis. “The land has many levels of being, and if one gets badly out of balance, the whole area becomes problematic (190). There are lots of beings, from all different realms—including our own—that intrude, possess, drain, and interfere with us in a variety of ways. According to Gersi’s research, the Peoples of Tradition take the same animistic view of the world, believing, everything in nature, every single bit of matter, is alive . . . all peoples of tradition agree that invisibles can occupy the visible world of the living. These may be souls of divine energies that animate and inhabit matter, good and evil spirits, and other supernatural entities . . . the bottom line is the same: whatever their source, these souls, or disunited energies, or ancestral spirits can be worshiped or called upon for help, and people must deal with them whenever they harm anything in the natural world, for these spirits maintain the cosmic harmony of nature.”
The Iglulik Eskimos of Canada also share in this paradigm. One member shared, The greatest peril of life lies in the fact that human food consists entirely of souls. [That even goes for plant-based diets.] All the creatures that we have to kill and eat, all those that we have to strike down and destroy to make clothes for ourselves, have souls, souls that do not perish with the body and which must therefore be [pacified] lest they should revenge themselves on us for taking away their bodies. (Gersi 25)
There are consequences when there is no ambassador to the invisible world reminding their tribe to be witness and manage how the actions of the inhabitants effect a sublime natural balance. When a traditional ritual of gratitude is foregone; the gratitude in the release of animal souls to nourish the human body, when breaking ground on sacred land, diverting ancient waterways, guardian spirits may become restless. This perturbation of the subtle energy can also cause dimensional doors to activate, hauntings occur, apparitions are seen and over time legends formed. Are we looking at some form of revenge at the center of the Missing 411 phenomena?
